The Happy Wheels video game app was released in 2010 and has now been downloaded over a billion — with a “B” — times. Now it’s moving on to animated shows, which will premiere on go90, Verizon’s mobile streaming platform, on November 15. And here’s the first trailer for Machinima and Bunim/Murray Productions’ cartoon-gory nine-episode series.
Welcome to Happy Wheels, the world’s most dangerous community. Early on, everything appears to be in order: a father teaching his son to ride a bike, picnickers sipping an alcoholic beverage, and a man eating a snack on a park bench. However, things are about to become ugly – and quickly. Who’s that youngster on the bike? Spike fodder is a term that refers to a type of spike that Who else is there? Falling speakers, helping officers, bursting bouncy houses, and even the town’s welcome sign turned to crimson goo. Do you see a pattern here?
To put it bluntly, Happy Wheels characters are horribly disfigured. Five locals organize a safety committee in an attempt to decrease the bloodshed, with epic-fail outcomes. A slew of social media/online celebs provide their voices to the project, including three Minecraft YouTubers (ask your kids) and the co-hosts of Machinima’s ETC.

The game was devised by Jim Bonacci — maybe after a week of horror film binge-watching — and the series is executive produced by BMP Digital’s John P. Roberts and Gil Goldschein. It will premiere on SkyQ in the United Kingdom, AMC Iberia in Spain and Portugal, and Sohu in China outside of the United States.
